Locking Orders! Please confirm your surveys are complete!
over 2 years ago – Sun, Aug 22, 2021 at 08:07:05 AM

Hi everyone!

Hope you're doing well -- we've reached that point in the campaign where we are locking your orders to begin the final steps towards fulfillment! You should receive an email from Backerkit letting you know that your order will be locked in 48hours, so if you need to make any adjustments or need to change your payment method, please do so before the end of day tomorrow! Once that window expires, they will start to charge credit cards for outstanding balances. If your payment method errors, they'll try again every so often and ask you to fix any issues. If they can't complete your order before we are ready to lock addresses (in mid-September) then your package won't be able to be processed for fulfillment. So please make sure your information is up to date soon!

There are also 49 of you who still haven't completed your surveys -- please log into smallworld.backerkit.com as soon as you can to make sure you've filled yours out! If you don't fill out your surveys, we don't know where to send your stuff! And if we have to send your stuff after the main fulfillment phase, it can get pretty expensive (for both of us)! So please make sure you're good to go!

Feedback Survey credit and winner

We've closed our Campaign Feedback Survey -- thanks to those of you who took the time to fill it out! You should see the $.50 Thank You credit deducted from your Backerkit balance. :)

And congratulations to Stevie B, the randomly selected winner of the $25 Amazon Gift Card! 😎

With a bunch of the stretch goal bonus items expected to arrive in the next couple weeks, we should have some more fun stuff to share soon, but in the meantime, we thought it'd be nice to post a few more of the gorgeous original backer sketches by Toru. Enjoy!

CARBON GREY IS LIVE! (Here's where you can find it...)
almost 3 years ago – Wed, Aug 04, 2021 at 12:17:16 PM

Hey everyone!

CARBON GREY RPG + OMNIBUS launched this morning!

Click the pic to go straight to the campaign page!

...and it occurred to us that some of you might be confused as to where to find it...

Since this is our first gaming project from a separate creative department focused primarily on gaming, we chose to group those projects under a different Kickstarter account: MAGNETIC PRESS PLAY. So you won't necessarily get a notification from Kickstarter pointing you towards those projects (until you back one).

And since it is primarily a tabletop game project, it is listed in the GAMES/TABLETOP category.

But to make it easy, you can just go to www.carbon-grey.com, which will take you straight to the campaign page!

A couple of other big tabletop games dropped this morning too, so we're kind of caught in the blast zone of those goliaths, but please help us out on Day-1! We need all the launch momentum we can get! :)

A quick update on the previous update...
almost 3 years ago – Mon, Aug 02, 2021 at 06:04:23 AM

Hi everyone!

Just a quick update to the previous update -- while the CARBON GREY RPG project mentioned in the previous update focused on the game itself, we wanted to spotlight the fact that the CARBON GREY Kickstarter is also offering a deluxe, 300+ page Omnibus Hardcover collecting and re-editing the complete, sold-out 10-issue comic series by Hoang Nguyen, Khari Evans, Paul Gardner, and Kinsun Loh!

So even if you're not interested in tabletop gaming, role-playing, or any of the other nifty baubles and bangles being offered with the headline RPG project, there is a Graphic Novel Omnibus-only tier for you comic book connoisseurs!

This graphic novel introduces the audience to the world of Mitteleuropa and the Daughters Grey, descendants of the fabled superhuman Gottfaust and loyal defenders of the crown. When a set of twins are born into the legacy, a forgotten prophesy bubbles to the surface -- the legend of the 13th Grey who will bring about the end of the world as they know it. But which of the twins is the 13th Grey, the fiery and defiant Giselle or the quiet-but-deadly Mathilde...?

Set against an alternate-universe WWI, various political forces and secret agendas intertwine for over 300 pages of action and intrigue...

If you haven't pre-registered for the campaign at www.carbon-grey.com yet, I encourage you to do so! The Omnibus GN alone is worth climbing on board! There will be a wealth of bonus stretch goal items throughout (including Challenge Coins, pins, patches, etc) and who knows -- you might find some of the gaming add-ons cool enough to add to your pledge!

As before, pre-registering will get you a bonus limited-edition linen cardstock print for FREE, and like our previous campaigns, we'll be awarding more bonus prints for Day-1 pledges, and a different print each week until closing. So please pre-reg and pledge on Day-1 to get them all!

So please consider checking out the pre-registration page at www.carbon-grey.com and supporting the campaign on Day-1! Since this is our first game campaign, we're a bit anxious and can really use all the support we can get!

Thanks!

Exciting news!
almost 3 years ago – Thu, Jul 29, 2021 at 10:13:29 AM

Hey everyone!

It's been quite an exciting couple of weeks, and we've been meaning to share some of that excitement until now! First -- Toru finished all of the special Backer sketches for those who pledged at that tier and OH MAN ARE THEY AMAZING! Toru absolutely poured some heart and soul into these! Not to make anyone feel bad if they didn't pledge at that tier, but here are just a few to oogle at...

I might share the rest in a future update (but if any of you backed at the sketch tier and don't want me to, please message so...)

Everything else is rolling right along on schedule,  and we'll share more pix and news as things develop.

The rest of our recent silence is only partly due to having minimal progress news to share, but we’ve also been hard at work on something big for the last several weeks (and months)… and now we're ready to pull back the curtain...

Announcing CARBON GREY: THE ROLE PLAYING GAME!

We here at Neurobellum/Magnetic Press have been life-long gamers – both tabletop and video games – and I spent 20 years as a producer in the gaming industry before jumping full-time into graphic novel publishing. But ever since, I’ve missed gaming with a passion… game design is and always will be in my blood. So after years of planning and preparation, Magnetic Press has finally announced the formation of MAGNETIC PRESS PLAY, an imprint dedicated to tabletop games and new media. And the first game in that slate will be launching next Tuesday August 3rd on Kickstarter!

CARBON GREY is a brand-new Role-Playing Game based on the popular graphic novel series created by Hoang Nguyen, Khari Evans, Paul Gardner, and Kinson Loh. It is set in an alternate history that at first blush resembles World War One, but with drastic, noticeable differences: fantastic and often futuristic technologies, supernatural abilities, unearthly creatures, and unexplainable phenomena that will leave you guessing. In the game, you will take on the role of an operative or pawn awakened from blissful unawareness to the fantastic forces secretly at play in the universe. You can play as one of twenty-four unique character archetypes, gifted with talents and abilities of your choosing.

Gameplay is built on the time-tested legacy of the D6 System by classic RPG company West End Games. The system has been used for many popular properties including STAR WARS, GHOSTBUSTERS, MEN IN BLACK, and THE DC UNIVERSE. The Carbon Grey Role-playing Game will be the first to use the official “Magnetic Variant” (D6MV) of these classic tabletop role-playing game rules.

The game will be offered as both a STANDALONE HARDCOVER RULEBOOK or a COMPLETE TABLETOP BOXED SET with twenty-one detailed miniatures varying in scale from 32mm heroes and enemies to a giant 96mm cannon walker, a sturdy 3-panel Game Master screen, 140 character and item cards, a large 24 x 36″ world/battle map, twelve d6 dice (5x stone dice, 5x light dice, 2x wild dice) with custom pips, and eight boards of punch-out map markers and tokens.

If you’re not that interested in tabletop roleplaying, that's cool, we’ve still got something you may be interested in…

The complete CARBON GREY series hardcover omnibus graphic novel!

We’ve collected the entire original CARBON GREY comic book series – all 10 issues, plus bonus material – and re-edited into a single, striking tale of danger and destiny, following the prophecy of the 13th Grey, the daughter of Gottfaust who is destined to change the fate of the world.

Over 300 pages of gorgeously painted storytelling by Hoang Nguyen, Khari Evans, Paul Gardner, and Kinsun Loh, encased in a premium 8.5 x 11″ linen-textured hardcover volume with spotUV elements and curved corners. If you aren’t familiar with the series, this will be the ultimate way to enjoy it. And if you are already familiar, this will be the ultimate edition for your collection.

About the new campaign

One thing about this new campaign we’d like to point out – this will be our first major campaign in the “Tabletop Games” category on Kickstarter, and as such, we decided to run it under a separate Magnetic Press Play account focused solely on those types of projects. So while the account may be different, you can take confidence that the folks behind it are the same ones who have brought you the last 12 successful campaigns under Neurobellum. 😊

If you’ve followed our campaigns up to now, you’ll have a pretty good idea what to expect: we’ll be offering Day-1 and weekly bonus prints, as well as a whole series of stretch goal bonuses. And like our previous campaigns you can pre-register now to get an exclusive limited edition print of the omnibus cover art!

But please don’t worry --  we haven’t bitten off more than we can chew because the creative team behind these tabletop projects will be completely separate from our graphic novel production – it's like two separate departments under the same familiar roof! We have an experienced team working on Carbon Grey under the creative leadership of ENnie award-winning writer of the recent ALIEN and TERMINATOR RPGs, Andrew E.C. Gaska. He is making sure this RPG experience will be awesome.

We have a lot of exciting projects in the works for both accounts, and we think you will find everything to be just as worthwhile as ever. If you’re just interested in graphic novels, Neurobellum will keep you covered. If you’re only interested in games, we’ll have plenty for you to consider under Magnetic Press Play. And if you’re at all interested in the other side, we’ll make it easy for you to give something new a try. 😊

So please check it out and support us on Day-1! This is an exciting new chapter for us, and we hope you'll come along for the ride!

Advance pix!
almost 3 years ago – Sat, Jul 03, 2021 at 10:07:02 PM

Hi everyone!

Hope you are all settling into a nice weekend (and an extra-long one for those of you in the States)! We've been pretty busy and running rather silent these past few weeks, but wanted to assure you that things are progressing right on schedule! In fact, we have received some advance copies of the book and they are looking SWEET! Check out some pix!

Note: Only the Limited Edition Peach Momoko variant that YOU ARE GETTING has the ribbon bookmark!

The new edition of ZAYA is also looking pretty spectacular -- check out that sweet purple foil!

The cover and pages are trimmed with our "signature Magnetic" curved corners...

We also got finished photos of the Challenge Coin, and we must say it will be a great addition to any growing collection...

As of this posting, we're looking right on schedule for fulfillment in September as promised. We know that there have been some delays on the last two campaigns (BRINDILLE and MONOLITH) due to unexpectedly ongoing port congestion and increasing international freight delays, but we took those pattern into account this time, so hopefully things don't get any worse (maybe even improve?) over the next 60 days...

We will of course keep you posted.

Thanks again, everyone!
