Backerkit survey update and OUR NEXT AWESOME PROJECT!

Happy Friday, everyone!

We were hoping to kick off this update with news that the Backerkit surveys have gone out, but in review with the Backerkit specialists and our fulfillment team at Quartermaster, we realize that the shipping matrix we have been using since WAHCOMMO isn't exactly accurate anymore... without getting into the weeds with details, international shipping channels have gotten very complicated lately, and we need to be sure that we are accounting for all of the latest VAT and Customs changes that have been trickling into the scene since January. (Thanks, Brexit... and Ever Given... and the global container shortage...) 

We should have it worked out next week, though, so surveys WILL be out very shortly.

In the meantime...

Backerkit coming this week... and it won't be alone...

Hey everyone!

Hope you've been doing well since our last update -- admittedly a while since our last check-in, but it is all going well. Kickstarter completed their collection process -- sorry to the 13 of you who had to be dropped because they couldn't collect your funds... if you'd still like to keep your rewards and get fully reinstated through Backerkit, send us a message! We'd be happy to have you back in the party!

We will admit, we were hoping to have Backerkit up and surveys out by this weekend, but we were a bit swamped with a few other pressing issues (publishing in this current post-pandemic era is almost more challenging than ever...), but we will have it up this week. Once we do, we'll post an update to let you know they're coming.

In the meantime, you may be wondering what has been distracting us... well, all will be revealed this week...

Where do we go from here?

Hi everyone!

We took the weekend off to get a bit of mental rest, and boy did we need it! But we know we owe you all a fresh update on "what happens next" now that we've crossed the goal line together. So here are the details:

• Kickstarter will start running your credit cards to collect your pledges this week (in fact, some of yours have already been collected). If Kickstarter runs into an issue with your payment method, they will email you a notification to please provide an alternate payment method. They'll keep that up for about 7 days at which point (after a final notification), they will officially close the campaign. Anyone whose payment was unable to go through will be dropped. Everyone else's pledge will then move into Backerkit. If for some reason you need to make special payment arrangements, send us a message and we'll see what can be done. Your pledge information will transfer to Backerkit, even if it is marked as "uncollected", so you may still be able to pay later.
• We'll be using Backerkit for fulfillment again this time, and will start setting that up this week. By the time Kickstarter has finished collecting funds, we'll have the Backerkit surveys ready to send out. That'll probably be sometime around May 15-17th or so. We'll keep you posted. These surveys will ask for your shipping address, but don't worry -- you will be able to update your address before we ship, in case you aren't sure where you might be when we start shipping.
• The new books are finished and in final proofing now. Our goal is to send it to the printer THIS FRIDAY! We expect to have everything in hand and ready to start shipping by the end of AUGUST. All of the other bits (the sketchbook, coin, etc) are all relatively simple productions that we will begin in the next week or two, so we have no worries about hitting the date with those items.
• As mentioned in the campaign itself, we will be shipping international orders with our new worldwide partner QUARTERMASTER to keep those costs as low as possible. As each vendor seems to have different rate benefits in different countries, a few regions might still a bit more expensive (Israel and South America are notably absent from their list). This should mean much more reasonable rates for Europe, Australia, and even Canada. There will always be localized delivery issues somewhere in the world at any given point, just know that we're doing what we can to make shipping as smooth as possible for EVERYONE. :)
• Digital rewards will be distributed through Backerkit directly, with the books themselves being distributed through Gumroad. We will announce the release date for those when we are close to fulfillment so that all orders can be processed at once. To set expectations early: it'll be closer to when we are about to start shipping the books themselves, so closer to late August. But we'll keep everyone updated as it draws near.

About Add-ons

While add-ons were offered through Kickstarter directly in this campaign, we will offer the same add-ons afterward through Backerkit (including the vinyl) PLUS digital copies of some of the Add-on titles that weren't available through the campaign.

We will also offer copies of some of our previous Kickstarter books, but believe it or not, some of them have sold out. We'll be checking to see what we have left from everything up until now.

We may offer extra copies of some of the stretch goal items (sketchbook, stickers, etc), but not all of them. If you don't see something that you were hoping to add, just message us and we'll see what we can do!

Hey everyone!

Woke up to find we crossed the goal line for the BONUS 2-SIDED MINI POSTERS! Woohoo! These will be added to every physical reward tier automatically for FREE!

This should be an exciting Friday... definitely a great way to wrap up a great week and fantastic campaign! We're proofing both new books today so they can be uploaded to the printer on Monday, and all of the (MANY) bonus items will be sent to print next week, too, but we'll be watching this page all day (and we'll try to respond to any comments and messages that come in before zero-hour, 6pm CST!
